A couple of months ago we invited the Arrowsmith Naturalists, our nearest BC Nature Club, for a visit to the Somass Estuaryy. Last Saturday, February 17th, we were very gratified to receive a large group of them. And our club had a good turnout too, 26 people in all.
We met near the end of Shoemaker Bay Road where the entry road to the new wastewater lagoon. Some of us walked along the road in, while others took the path through the forest. We had a great time. One of the highlights of the day was when an eagle came down fast and low over the water. It hit a duck in the water and swam toward the beach with its wings.
Thanks to Theresa Sysmanis for putting it together. We will return the visit and go to Englishman River Estuary on Saturday April 6.
And thanks to Mike Youds we have a few photos to share
